This three-storey brick apartment block on Smith Street, between Broadway and Assiniboine Avenue, in Winnipeg was constructed in 1930, for a cost of about $95,000, by contractor-owner Peter McDiarmid. In its original configuration, the building had 40 apartments with two, three, or four rooms each.
