The Gnaton School District was established formally in June 1892 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at 33-15-20W in what is now the Municipality of Prairie View. The district was dissolved in 1911 and its catchment area was divided between the Birtle Consolidated School District and Rothesay School District. The school, as well as a community hall that operated from 1915 to 1983, is commemorated by a stone monument.
