Historic Sites of Manitoba: General Monash Legion Hall (1414 Main Street, Winnipeg)

This two-storey building on Main Street in Winnipeg was built sometime around 1950 to house the General Monash Branch No. 115 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Established in 1933 by a group of Jewish veterans of the First World War, the branch was named after Australian General Sir John Monash (1865-1931).

In 2015, the branch closed and the building was sold. At the time of a 2024 site visit, it was being used for retail purposes. The branch's name was still slightly visible along with a Star of David next to the entrance door facing the street.
