This one-storey frame and stucco building at the southeast corner of Spruce Street and Barrett Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 40 feet by 78 feet, was designed by local architect Edgar Prain. It was constructed in 1928 by the firm of Langford and Birch, at a cost of about $30,000. The building opened officially on 30 September 1928 as Chalmers United Church with room for 400 congregants.
A one-storey addition, designed by architectural firm of Prain and Ward, was built in 1953 by contractor J. R. Bugby on the south side of the building. In 1977, the congregation merged with that of Greenwood United Church to become McClure United Church. The building continues in use as a nondenominational church.
