Historic Sites of Manitoba: Blankstein House (673 Alfred Avenue, Winnipeg)

This 1½-storey wood frame house on Alfred Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 20 feet by 36 feet, was designed by local architect Max Zev Blankstein and built in 1911 by owner/painter Maurice Selber (?-?) at a cost of about $1,200. He sold it to Max Zev Blankstein for his father Mayer Zizy “Meir” Blankstein (?-?), who owned it until around 1921. At the time of a 2024 site visit, the house appeared somewhat modified from its original appearance.
