Stan Carbone

Curator, historian.
Born in Italy in 1957, he came to Canada in 1960 and received an MA degree in History from the University of Manitoba. He was Curator of Multicultural Studies at the Manitoba Museum from 1993 to 2001 and is currently Director of Programs and Exhibits with the Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada. He also serves as Vice-Consul of Italy in Winnipeg. In recognition of his community service, he received a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (2022).
Carbone has written two books on Italians in Winnipeg: The Streets Were Not Paved With Gold: A Social History of Italians in Winnipeg (Winnipeg: Manitoba Italian Heritage Committee, 1992) and Italians in Winnipeg: An Illustrated History (Winnipeg: University of Manitoba Press, 1998). In 1993, he received a Margaret McWilliams Award for his audiovisual presentation Il Regalo Degli Amatesi: A Social History of Italians in Winnipeg.
