The Fort Rouge Curling Club was founded in 1919. The original five-sheet club was built on land provided by the Winnipeg Electric Railway Company at 475 Kylemore Avenue at Osborne Street in Fort Rouge.
In the late 1950s, the building was demolished to make way for a grocery store for the area. In the curling season 1958-1959 the club rented ice at the Granite Curling Club. In December 1959, their brand new six-sheet facility, located at 750 Daly Street, was opened.
Known as “The Home of Friendly Curling,” the club has hosted many teams that have brought prosperity to it. Billy Walsh won two Canadian Men's Championships in 1952 and 1956, Orest Meleschuk won the 1972 Brier and went on to win the World Men's Championship. Connie Laliberte skipped her team to three Canadian Women's Championships in 1984, 1992, and 1995. Her 1984 team went on to win a World Women's Championship. In 1995 Chris Galbraith skipped his Junior Men's Team to the Canadian Junior Men's Championship.
