In May 1953, the Winnipeg-based architectural firm of Waisman Ross and Associates was established by Allan Harvie Waisman and Jack Mollison Ross. It merged in July 1964 with the firm of Blankstein Coop Gillmore and Hanna that had been founded in April 1956 by Morley Blankstein and Isadore “Issie” Coop (joined in 1959 by Alan Hanna and R. Douglas “Doug” Gillmor). The combined name of Waisman Ross Blankstein Coop Gillmor Hanna and Associates proved cumbersome so it soon became Number TEN Architectural Group, named for the number of its office on Donald Street North.
