Curriculum Based Activity #4 Historical Significance Cards Before the activity, create brief information cards about either people or events that the students have studied. Include a picture with correct citation and a brief synopsis of the person’s contributions or the ramifications of an event. * Use “We Made Hartney” for source material Divide the students into groups. Study the Significance Task cards As a group decide which are the ten most historically significant events ( people ) in the history of Hartney / The Municipality / Southwestern Manitoba / Rank the events ( people ) from most to least significant or choose the most historically significant person or event. Share and justify your ranking either orally or on chart paper. This is a review activity that can also be used to assess the student learning at the end of a unit of study. In higher grades it could also be a written examination question. |
