Historic Sites of Manitoba: Viceroy Apartments (406 Anderson Avenue, Winnipeg)

This two-storey cream brick and Tyndall Stone, trimmed, Streamline Moderne-style building at the southeast corner of Anderson Avenue and Salter Street in Winnipeg, measuring 38 feet by 76 feet, was built in 1941 by the construction firm of A. Akman and Son at a cost of about $20,000, for owner Hillel “Harry” Ferdman (1885-1964). Subcontractors included Theodore Kotchorek (plumbing and sewers). In its original configuration, the building contained eight residential apartments.

At the time of a 2026 site visit, the building was slightly modified from its original appearance.
