Historic Sites of Manitoba: Singer Sewing Machine Building (590 Main Street, Winnipeg)This two-storey brick and Tyndall stone building on Main Street in Winnipeg was designed by the local architectural firm of Northwood and Chivers. It was built in 1939 at a cost of about $40,000 by the construction firm of Fraser and MacDonald (with Cotter Brothers installing the heating, plumbing, and fire suppression systems) for the Singer Sewing Machine Company of New York. The company remained at this location into the 1960s.
