Historic Sites of Manitoba: British American Service Station / Selkirk Service Station (469 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg)

Formerly located at the northeast corner of Selkirk Avenue and Powers Street in Winnipeg, a one-storey wood frame, sheet metal, and stucco building, measuring 16 feet by 20 feet, was built in 1926 by the Canadian Rogers Sheet Metal Company, at a cost of about $2,000. It was intended as a service station for the British American Oil Company.

The building originally had two gasoline pumps and a small office for the service station attendant. Later known as the Selkirk Service Station, the building has been demolished and the site is now occupied by a multi-storey residential building.
