Historic Sites of Manitoba: Conklin House (157 Burrows Avenue, Winnipeg)

This 2½-storey wood frame, Queen Anne-style house on Burrows Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 22 feet by 30 feet, and 12 feet by 16 feet, was designed by local architect Victor William Horwood and built in 1904 by the Jackson Building Company at a cost of about $2,750, for owner John James Conklin. He was a day editor and journalist at the Manitoba Free Press.

At the time of a 2026 site visit, the house was extensively renovated from its original appearance with all of its exterior details having been removed.
