Historic Sites of Manitoba: Canadian Northern Railway Turntable and Engine House (McTavish Avenue, Brandon)

Formerly located at the southwest corner of McTavish Avenue and First Street in Brandon, a large one-storey brick fan-shaped, nine-bay engine house and turntable were constructed between mid-1907 and early 1908 by the Sharpe Construction Company of Winnipeg. Completed at a cost of about $40,000 for the Canadian Northern Railway (later Canadian National Railway), it provided repair services for steam locomotives.

The structure has been demolished and no vestige of it remains at the site.
