Historic Sites of Manitoba: Van Vliet House (86 Balmoral Street, Winnipeg)

This two-storey brick house on Balmoral Street in Winnipeg was designed by architect John Nelson Semmens and built in 1911 by contractor H. Picken for businessman Thomas Alvin Van Vliet. His widow lived in the house until 1934 and continued to own it until 1949 when it was converted into a boarding house. It was owned and lived in by Michael and Julia Kirk in the 1970s and 1980s.
