Historic Sites of Manitoba: Tuxedo Apartments (213 Langside Street, Winnipeg)

This three-storey brick building on Langside Street in Winnipeg was designed and built in 1927 by the Moxam Construction Company at a cost of about $50,000. Measuring 49 feet by 91 feet, the building contained 18 residential apartments of three, four, or five rooms. The facade was of red bricks with stone trim and interior woodwork was of oak. It was first block in the city to have “dinettes”, a combination kitchen and dining room. The property was managed from the beginning by the Smith Agency.
