A 40,000-bushel wooden grain elevator at Thornhill, on the CPR La Riviere Subdivision in the Rural Municipality of Stanley, was built in 1926 for a local cooperative by Manitoba Pool Elevators. An annex was built beside it in 1951, raising its total capacity to 111,000 bushels. It became Pool A when elevators formerly operated by Ogilvie Flour Mills and Lake of the Woods Milling were acquired in early 1960. They became Pool and Pool C, respectively, although Pool C was short-lived, being destroyed by fire around 1962 and not rebuilt. The remaining two elevators, each with an attached annex, operated until being closed in July 1978. They were later removed from the site.
