Historic Sites of Manitoba: St. Norbert Roman Catholic Convent (50 rue St. Pierre, Winnipeg)

A four-storey brick veneer building at this site in the St. Norbert area of Winnipeg, designed by architect Joseph-Azarie Senecal, was built between 1904 and 1905, incorporating a portion of a previous 1889 building. It was used as a convent, girls school and boarding facility by the Grey Nuns religious order. It was vacated in 1969 and sold, reopened in the mid-1970s as a seniors' home. It was demolished in May 1996 but the original iron fence and concrete sidewalk were visible at a 2024 site visit.
