A monument commemorates the site of a former Roman Catholic convent and school built at Bruxelles, in the Municipality of Lorne, between 1954 and 1955. Operated by the Ursuline Order of nuns, they left the facility in 1989 and it was used by the Mountain School Division until 2000 when local residents spearheaded the construction of a new school building nearby. The building was owned privately for some years until being destroyed by fire on 12 November 2007.
