This site hosted the first post office in the Rural Municipality of Dufferin. Local resident Richard Salter was appointed postmaster in June 1878 and served until 1898. The office closed when the railway came to Carman. A commemorative sign was erected in 2003 by the Carman/Dufferin Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee.
