A reconstructed Fort Gibraltar fur trade post, adjacent to the Red River in Winnipeg’s Whittier Park, was built in the late 1970s. A brass plaque on an exterior wall of the palisade, bearing text in French, English, Ojibwe, Cree, Dakota, and Michif, acknowledges that the fort is located on the lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininew, and Dakota peoples and on the homeland of the Metis nation. It was put here by the Festival du Voyageur Inc.
