This building in Gladstone, in the Municipality of WestLake-Gladstone, is the oldest-known building in town. Built in the late 1870s at the junction of Saskatchewan Street and James Avenue as a general store for J. A. Davidson, it was purchased in 1881 by the Galloway Brothers as their first store. Eight years later, it was purchased by the Knox brothers, moved to its present site, and used for a furniture store. In 1904, it was taken over by the Merchants Bank and renovated extensively. It was later used as a bakery.
