Historic Sites of Manitoba: Burwalde Mennonite Brethren Church (RM of Stanley)

In 1888, the first Mennonite Brethren Church in Canada was established in the Burwalde School District in the Rural Municipality of Stanley. The church building was later moved to Winkler where its replacement still operates. On 4 August 2007, a monument commemorating the church and its first pastor, Gerhard Wiebe (1888-1895), was unveiled at the original location.
