Historic Sites of Manitoba: Brandon Times Building / Ione Cigar Factory / Bank of Montreal Building (121 Tenth Street, Brandon)

This two-storey brick building on Tenth Street in Brandon was constructed in 1891 as office space for the Brandon Times newspaper. From 1907 to 1917, it housed the Ione Cigar Factory under proprietor James Dillion (?-?) and possibly also Barney Isman (1870-?). The building was also the first home of the Bank of Montreal in Brandon. It later housed a cafe under two generations of the Wong family, and still later a pizza restaurant. At the time of a 2021 site visit, it hosted a dance studio. Original street-facing windows on the second floor had been bricked over but cornice details were intact. The first floor entrance had been altered radically.
