The Barrick School District was established formally in February 1921 and a one-room schoolhouse operated in the Hutterite Colony of Barrickman in the Rural Municipality of Cartier. The district, formed from catchment areas previously in the St. Francois Xavier School District No. 1336 and Corrie School District No. 827, became part of the White Horse Plain School Division No. 20 in 1967. A new school was built in 1975 and the facility, which in 2001 was consolidated into the Prairie Rose School Division, operated into the 2000s.
