She was elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly at the 1990 general election and was re-elected at the 1995 election. She was Minister of Education and Training (1992-1993), Minister of Justice and Attorney General (1993-1997), and Minister of Culture, Heritage and Citizenship (1997-1999). She did not run in the 1999 general election.
