MLA (1999-2003), MLA (2003-2007), MLA (2007-2011), MLA (2011-2016), Premier of Manitoba (2009-2016), MLA (2016-2018).
He served as a Winnipeg city councillor (1989-1992) before entering provincial politics, being elected in the 1999 general election and re-elected in 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2016. He served as Premier of Manitoba (2009-2016). He was not a candidate in the 2019 election. In recognition of his community service, he received a Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). He was inducted into the Order of Manitoba (2021).
