W. Yvon Dumont

Community activist, Lieutenant-Governor of Manitoba (1993-1999).

He served President of the Manitoba Metis Federation (1985-1992) and Lieutenant Governor for Manitoba (1993-1999). He was given an honorary doctorate by the University of Manitoba (1996) and Brandon University (2000). He was inducted into the Order of Manitoba (2001) and he received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) and Le Prix Riel (2005).
