Political scientist, lawyer, civil servant.
One of four children of Joyce Margaret Evelyn Sullivan (1911-1993) and Fred Cooper (1899-1972), she attended Gordon Bell High School where she was Student President (1965-1966). She received BA (Honours) and MA (1977) degrees in Political Science from the University of Manitoba.
In 1981, after receiving a law degree from the University of Manitoba, she was called to the Manitoba Bar (1982). She practiced law for eight years, first with the firm of Walsh Micay and Company (1982-1988) and later with Lawrie Cherniack and Laurie P. Allen (1988-?). She served as Vice-Chair of the Manitoba Labour Board (1985-?) and was a Crown counsel at the Manitoba Family Law Branch. In 2003, she was appointed Master of the Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench, serving until retirement in December 2015.
She has been married twice, first in 1974 to MLA Brian Mark Corrin with whom she had a son before they separated. In 1987, she married Dr. Martin Reed and they had a son.
