This company was incorporated on the 23 June 1919, with the acquisition of the Continental Oil Company, and it operated automotive service stations around Manitoba. It was rebranded as North Star Oil Limited in 1928 and, in February 1938, it acquired the assets of the Prairie Cities Oil Company. Its service stations and office building were reopened under the North Star Oil banner by late 1938.
In 1955, the company built a refinery on Archibald Street in St. Boniface. In 1962, it was purchased by the Shell Oil Company and became the North Star Oil Division and, the following year, it was fully rebranded as Shell Oil Canada Limited.
