In April 1899, D. MacLean [McLean] established a brick yard near MacGregor. He hired Walter Smith as the manager of the yard and, by mid-August, MacLean had fired his first kiln of brick. His first season as a brick maker was successful and his brick was graded as being excellent quality. Unfortunately, nothing more is known about the MacLean brick yard after this time.
