Arrived in 1887, his father Benjamin was already settled. Banting Siding and Elevator established near his home. He built the large house that remains a landmark. One of the first Canadian farms to experiment with a cement-floored barn floor. Returned to Souris Mouth in 1882. Became postmaster at Souris Mouth. His family left good accounts of their life and times. Married Ethel Maude Fisher in 1903. Claims:  One of the first settlers in the district, came with parents in 1880. Married Mary Anne Frain in 1857. Claims:  Moved to Canada in 1870. Winnipeg in 1879. One of the first settlers in the district. Plowed the first furrow in the district on 19-7-17 in 1879. The region soon became known as the “Elliott Settlement”, later Elliott’s Siding. Served as Justice of the Peace after moving in to Wawanesa. Retired to Vancouver. Charter member of the Wawanesa Masonic Lodge.
