Heritage
Value
|
The Bridgett
Hardware Building is valued for its connection to W.A.
Bridgett
who purchased what was originally Virden’s gas-works building in
1898, added
a second floor and an extension, and established the Virden Hardware
and
Lumber Co, Ltd. The building continued to function for that general
purpose
into the modern era when it housed the Home Hardware. Today, as a
retail
outlet, it is valued for its prominent presence on Nelson Street and
for
the many interior materials and details which link it to its past
purposes.
