Selkirk Stamp Launch
The stamp launch was held next to Ross House Museum, on the site where the Selkirk settlers planted the first wheat crop in October 1812.
Manitoba Living History Society members at the launch
Members of the Manitoba Living History Society, portraying members of the Red River community of the early 19th century, were on hand for the Selkirk stamp launch.
Lord Selkirk with Lord Selkirk
Lord Selkirk, portrayed by Chris Black, an active member of the Manitoba Living History Society, displayed a set of the special Lord Selkirk commemorative stamp.
Sending mail from the Ross House post office
Tim Flook, a member of the St. Andrew's Society of Winnipeg, purchased copies of the Selkirk stamp and mailed several letters from Ross House Museum during the event.
Presentation to Co-Chairs Fraser and Prout
Selkirk Bicentenary Committee Co-Chair Phyllis Fraser (left) and Lawrence Prout (right) accepted a special presentation of the new Selkirk stemp from Susan Margles, Vice-President of Canada Post.
Fletcher with Manitoba Living History Society members
Members of the Manitoba Living History Society joined the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Minister of State (Transport) for the unveiling of the new stamp.
