Historic Sites of Manitoba: Wigwam Restaurant / 1929 Dining and Lounge (132 Wasagaming Drive, Wasagaming, Riding Mountain National Park)

The Wigwam Restaurant in the village of Wasagaming in Riding Mountain National Park was constructed between 1928 and 1929 by Swedish craftsmen for its owners Oswald J. Gusdal (1888-1934) and Ernest F. Gusdal (1905-1983). The rectangular wood-frame structure is sheathed in horizontal split-log siding. The interior walls and intricate hipped ceiling are covered in golden-hued, horizontal log siding. Now a provincially-designated historic site, a commemorative plaque beside the building was unveiled by the Manitoba Heritage Council on 15 July 1995.
