Historic Sites of Manitoba: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church and Cemetery (Caliento, RM of Stuartburn)

The first Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church near the community of Caliento, in the Rural Municipality of Stuartburn, was built between 1913 and 1915, on land donated by Dymytro and Tena Sopiwnyk. Destroyed by fire on Christmas Day 1924, the present church building was constructed in 1925 with icongraphy by artist Hnat Sych. The first burial in the associated cemetery occurred in 1908.
