Historic Sites of Manitoba: Unickow Memorial Plaque (Oakburn, RM of Yellowhead)

A plaque, situated in the Lions Park in Oakburn, in the Rural Municipality of Yellowhead, commemorates Nathan Unickow, whose general store stood here from 1926 to 1976. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, Unickow helped many of Oakburn’s citizens through the difficult time. He also served as Rabbi for the local Jewish community.
