Along a walking trail from the Winnipeg River Heritage Museum, at St. Georges in the Rural Municipality of Alexander, is a plaque dedicated to the Chevrefils, Dupont, and Vincent families who arrived from Chateauguay, Quebec in 1881-1882. They founded the community of St. Georges where they and subsequent settlers worked as farmers, fishers, loggers, and trappers. The plaque also commemorates Father Joachim Allard, missionary at Fort Alexander, who established a Roman Catholic parish here.
