Historic Sites of Manitoba: Jacques Cartier School / St. Adelard School No. 912 (Municipality of Lorne)

A monument in the Municipality of Lorne commemorates St. Adelard School, originally known as Ecole Jacques Cartier, which was established in a building (represented by a scale model) in the southeast quarter of 28-6-9 west of the Principal Meridian, in December 1897. It closed in January 1960 and remaining students went to Notre Dame de Lourdes Consolidated School No. 2390. Another monument at the site commemorates the centenary of the Pantel family, who arrived in this area in 1891.

Some records for this school, including the names of pupils and attendance, are available at the Musee des Pionniers et des Chanoinesses (for 1906) and the Archives of Manitoba (for 1915).
