The Sanders School District was established formally in April 1885 and a schoolhouse operated at NW20-2-17W in what is now the Rural Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. The district was dissolved in January 1968 but the former school building remains at the site. At the time of a 2012 site visit, the concrete foundation was found to exhibit significant structural deterioration.
Among the teachers of Sanders School were Mrs. Rae Richardson (1886) and Mrs. Margaret Smith (1967).
