This museum was established in 1984 by Dave Snydal of Brandon to highlight the history of amateur radio in Manitoba. A permanent home for its collections, on the grounds of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum near Austin in the Municipality of North Norfolk, was constructed in 1990. The main museum building was renamed the Dave Syndal Building in 2021 to commemorate its founder.
