The Prairie Grove School District was established in March 1885 and a one-room schoolhouse operated at this site in the Rural Municipality of Tache until 1947 when a new building replaced it on a site a short distance to the northwest. A cemetery, established in 1879, is also situated here. Its operations are overseen by the Rural Municipality of Springfield.
