The Ottawa School District was established formally in May 1897. Later that year, a frame school building operated on the southwest quarter of 22-24-24 west of the Principal Meridian in the Rural Municipality of Grandview. It was destroyed by fire in 1938.
The present school building was constructed in 1938 and served until closure in 1967. Afterwards, the students in this area were transported by bus to Grandview Consolidated School No. 2447. The former school building was moved to Grandview where it became part of the Watson Crossley Community Museum. A monument at the original site was dedicated in 1990. Also noted on the monument is the Ottawa Hall, that operated between 1918 and 1986.
