Historic Sites of Manitoba: Old Dauphin School No. 531 (RM of Dauphin)

The Old Dauphin School District was established formally in May 1888 as the first school in the Rural Municipality of Dauphin. A one-room schoolhouse operated at SW19-25-18W. It closed in June 1961 and a monument at the site commemorates it.

Among the teachers of Old Dauphin School were Anna Parker (Spring 1915), Ellen G. Whitmore (Fall 1915), Hazel N. Rundle (Spring 1916), Martha J. Trew? (Fall 1916), Cora Lee (Spring 1917 - Spring 1918), Stella Chute (Fall 1918), Kathleen Johanna Dewar (1938), Mrs. Elizabeth Kay (1954-1955), Arthur Roy (1955-1958), and Mrs. Mary McNaughton (1958-1961).
