An eight-sided wooden water tower, situated alongside the Canadian National Railway line through Miami, in the Rural Municipality of Thompson, was the second one to be built here. Holding enough water to fill 1,600 bathtubs, the tower supplied water not only to steam locomotives but also the town. In 1980, the tank burst and a large volume of water washed out the railway track and flooded part of the main street.
The concrete foundation is all that remains of the water tower.
