Historic Sites of Manitoba: McKinney-Campbell Block (70 Main Street, Carman)

Built in 1903, this pair of two-storey brick buildings on Main Street in Carman feature Romanesque Revival styling. Ornamental details include roofline edging, intricate brick surrounds over windows and wrapping around the building, and building-edge pilasters highlighted at their tops with corbel tables. The names of the partners who built the buildings can be seen in two second-floor limestone panels: McKinney on south and Campbell on north. In 1920, they were purchased by merchant Arthur Fenwick Higgins from Roland.

At one time, this block housed a Macleods department store.
