Historic Sites of Manitoba: McKay House (120 Fourth Street SE, Minnedosa)

This stone residence in Minnedosa, a municipally-designated historic site (1995), was built in 1892 by stonemason and carpenter James McKay. He also assisted in the construction of the town’s first hydroelectric dam, built nearby in 1903, and he supervised the building of the Lady Minto Hospital in 1908. The house remained in the McKay family until the mid-1960s.
