Historic Sites of Manitoba: Lone Star School No. 1629 (RM of Morris)

The Lone Star School District was established in May 1912 and a wood frame school building operated on the northwest quarter of 18-6-1 west of the Principal Meridian in the Rural Municipality of Morris. The school closed in 1922 due to low enrollment and remained closed until September 1927. In the early 1950s, a new school building was erected at the north side of 19-6-1W. It closed permanently in 1956 and henceforth students from this area went to Brunkild School No. 1281 or Sperling Consolidated School No. 1488. A sign commemorates the former school.

The teachers who worked at Lone Star School included: Ruth Bjorklund (1914), Dorothy Hodkinson (1915), Lorna Gordon (1915-1916), Janet McCuag (1916-1917), F.
