A wooden United Church at Langruth, in the Municipality of WestLake-Gladstone, was built in 1910 on a site near the North Lakeland School. At that time, the building was occupied by a Methodist congregation. The building was moved into town in the spring of 1923, placed on a new concrete foundation, and enlarged. Meanwhile, services were held in homes of the congregants. In 1925, the church reopened aas Langruth United Church following the unification of the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregational faiths in Canada.
For many years, the church was served by student ministers supplied by the Home Mission Board. Between 1926 and 1963, the congregation worked to acquire an ordained minister. This goal was achieved in the latter year when the church joined the Lakeshore and Plums Charges to form the Plumas Lakeshore Charge. The first ordained minister was W. D. Lord (1963-1965).
