Historic Sites of Manitoba: Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church (Keld, RM of Dauphin)

A small wooden church building at NE36-23-20W at the community of Keld in the Rural Municipality of Dauphin, directly across the road from the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, was constructed in 1917. Known as Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church, it was a mission church that did not have a resident priest. It was served by priests from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church at Polonia (1917-1920), Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church at Sifton (1921-1940), St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church at Grandview (1940-1957), Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church at Roblin (1957-1958), and St. Viator Roman Catholic Church at Dauphin (1958-1975).

The priests who served the congregation of Precious Blood were Rev. Joseph Solski (1917-1920), Rev. F. Stronski (1921-1923), Rev. F. M. Joseph Kurys (1923-1927), Rev. A. Wisniewski (1927-1928), Rev. Maryan F. Orlinski (1928-1933), Rev. A. Lozinski (1933-1935), Rev. L. J. Kreciszewski (1935-1940), Rev. S. Tryzskoma (1940-1949), Rev. Marian Iwanski (1949-1952), Rev. Lucien Socinski (1952-1957), Rev. W. Plucinski (1957-1958), Very Rev. Z. A. J. Baczkowski (1958-1970), and Rev. T. Nagengast (1970-1975).

The chapel was reconstructed in 1949 and a new bell was blessed in 1961. By the early 1970s, Masses were no longer being said and, in 1975, the church and surrounding land were sold. The building was demolished in the 1990s. A small cemetery associated with the church is located a short distance to the south.
